The Evolution of Coaching: From Boardrooms to Bodies, Nature, and Ancient Wisdom
Let’s be honest about something the coaching industry doesn’t always acknowledge: this evolution isn’t universally celebrated. For every coach embracing somatic awareness, there is another rolling their eyes at what they see as “fluffy” additions to serious business coaching. For every organization investing in nature-based leadership development, there are dozens dismissing it as expensive “camp for adults.”

Knowing and Being
Something I was taught and which I try to keep in mind, is that the Passion and Fixation of every Type is pure stupidity. All intelligence lies in the Virtues and Holy ideas, and the Passions and Fixations are utterly devoid of it. Especially in the case of Avarice, the Passion of Type 5, this can be confusing (at least while I was merged with Type 5 it certainly was to me) because 5s are constantly learning things, and so it is counter-intuitive to think of this as stupid.

Remembrance Day
Remembrance Day invites us not only to recall a horrific war, but to wake up. Gurdjieff said wars are driven by unconscious forces; we become pawns, sleepwalking. On the Manchild Archetype and the Enneagram
I’m writing this because in my recent inner work a teacher told me that I have been embodying the archetype of the puer aeternus or “manchild” and I believe writing about the subject will help in pursuing my path towards individuation and “waking up.” I identify as genderfluid and non-binary, but I believe that the dynamic of the “manchild” is relevant to the development of my masculine side and general development of my psyche and so have written this accordingly.

The Beginning of Something New
As this dream took shape, I started connecting with other Canadians on the same path. Every person I met knew another person doing Enneagram work in a different city or town across the country. And every person lit up at the idea of connecting with others “doing the work.”
